Brothers and Sisters I am writing this to you today in a state of deep turmoil, and sadness. Sadness for our nation, and more specifically for the Church that resides within our borders. We are Christians, but so many of us have forgotten exactly what that means, so I am going to remind us. We are not our own, We were bought by the blood of Jesus (1 Corinthians 6:20). We are citizens of His kingdom (Colossians 1:13). We do not fight (John 18:36). Instead we turn the other cheek, forgive our brothers and sisters indefinitely, and love and pray for our enemies who persecute us (Mathew 5:39, Mathew 18:22, and Mathew 5:44). With all that being said. Christians do not revolt. We aren’t even supposed to speak poorly of our leaders (Exodus 22:28). We can’t revolt, because we are ambassadors here. No ambassador gets involved in the fights of their host nation. We represent another Kingdom. As Christians our prayer should not be for revolution, but for revival. Not some event where we have a bunch of music and speakers and people make promises most of whom will walk away as the tide changes.
No I am talking about true revival. An outpouring of the Holy Spirit first on the church, and then overflowing through us to the streets! A supernatural breaking of the hearts of the people. A nationwide repentance and humbling before the throne of the Lord. Nothing short of a Nineveh style mourning (Jonah 3:6) and a Josiah level repentance (2 Kings 22 & 23) will save this nation. No amount of legislation will stop the marginalization of people, and no amount of guns will stop authoritarianism. The Lord alone can change the path we are on. Revival has happened before. Massive movements of the Lord that awakened a lukewarm church. Thousands of people, all ethnicities, all social standings, meeting together daily and weekly, uniting in prayer and worship. It can happen again. Revival is possible, but it does not begin on the internet, the streets, or even the pulpit. If we want to see repentance and revival, it begins alone on our knees humbly begging the only one who can do it. The God of Israel and His Son, the messiah Jesus Christ. May the peace of our Lord reign in us, and love and wisdom overflow from our hearts.
